§ 98     Special Audits

Upon the death, resignation, removal or expiration of the term of any officer of the City, the Director of Finance, if requested to do so by the Mayor or the Council, shall cause an audit and investigation of the accounts of the officer to be made and shall report to the Mayor and the Council. In case of death, resignation or removal of the Director of Finance, the Mayor shall cause an audit to be made of the Director’s accounts, if requested by the Council. If,

as a result of any audit, an officer be found indebted to the City, the Director of Finance, or other person making the audit, shall immediately give notice of the result to the Mayor and the Director of Law and the latter shall forthwith proceed to collect the indebtedness.
